What is a Vocational Rehabilitation Plan?
A Vocational Rehabilitation Plan is a plan developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation that helps individuals with disabilities find and maintain employment. This plan helps individuals prepare for employment by identifying their career goals, assessing their skills, and developing an individualized plan to help them reach their employment goals. It also assists in obtaining necessary services, such as job training and medical care. The Vocational Rehabilitation Plan helps individuals become more independent and able to work, by teaching them job-related skills, providing resources such as job placement and job development services, and providing job coaching and mentoring. The plan also helps individuals find and obtain appropriate and reasonable accommodations necessary to secure employment. The Vocational Rehabilitation Plan is available to any individual with a disability who is between the ages of 14 and 65. Once this plan is developed, the individual is eligible to receive services to help them achieve their employment goals. Services include job preparation and placement, rehabilitation counseling, and support services.
