What is my obligation to report changes in my health or income?

If you are a Texas resident receiving disability benefits or enrolled in a disability plan, you are obligated to report any changes in your health or income. This includes any changes in medical conditions, care and services, medications, income, employment, or financial resources that might affect your eligibility for benefits. In order to ensure that you are receiving the correct benefits, you must tell the Disability Planning Law in Texas program about any changes within 10 days of the change. If it is not reported in a timely manner, you could be receiving more benefits than you are entitled to, resulting in an overpayment that you may have to pay back. If you do not report the changes, the Disability Planning Law in Texas program may take legal action against you. This could include suspending, denying, or reducing your benefits or taking civil or criminal penalties. You can report changes in your health or income by contacting the Disability Planning Law in Texas program to speak with a customer service representative or by filing a Change Report form with the program online or in person. This form requires details about your change in health, care, or financial situation. Once all the required information has been provided, your new disability benefit amount and payment dates will be adjusted accordingly.
