How long will my driver's license be suspended after a DUI conviction?
If you are convicted of a DUI in Washington, your driver’s license will be suspended for at least 90 days. Depending on the severity of the offense and any prior DUI convictions, the license could be suspended for up to two years. In addition to the suspension of your driver’s license, you may have to pay a fine and may even have to go to jail. When your license is suspended, you must surrender it to the Department of Licensing within 5 days. During the suspension period, you won’t be allowed to drive, and you will be required to complete an alcohol assessment and treatment program in order to reinstate your license. At the end of the suspension period, you will be required to pay a reinstatement fee and may be required to obtain an Ignition Interlock Device (IID). An IID is a device that will be installed in your car and will require you to blow into it in order to start the vehicle. If you are convicted of a DUI in Washington, your driver’s license will be suspended for at least 90 days. Depending on the severity of the offense and any prior convictions, the license could be suspended for up to two years. To reinstate your license, you must pay a reinstatement fee, complete an alcohol assessment and treatment program, and may also be required to obtain an Ignition Interlock Device.
