What is DWI law?
DWI law stands for Driving While Intoxicated and applies to anyone who is driving a vehicle while their blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is above the legal limit. In Nebraska, the legal limit is .08 BAC. If a driver is found to have a higher BAC, they will be subject to DWI laws in the state and can face hefty fines, jail time, and a suspended license. In Nebraska, police officers may also look for other signs that can indicate the person is driving while intoxicated. These signs can include swerving, driving too slow or fast, and not being able to keep a steady lane. In addition, if the driver fails a field sobriety test, they may also be charged with DWI. It is important to note that if someone is convicted of DWI, they will be required to enroll in an alcohol treatment program and will also be required to pay a hefty fee. Furthermore, their license may also be suspended for up to two years. DWI is a serious crime and is treated as such by the law. As a driver, it is important to remain aware of the legal BAC limit and to avoid driving if you are impaired in any way. Doing so can help to keep drivers and pedestrians safe, and avoid the serious consequences associated with DWI.
