What is the No Child Left Behind Act?
The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) is a federal law that was passed in 2002 in order to ensure that all students in the United States have access to a quality education. This law primarily impacts public schools in the United States, including those in Texas. NCLB requires that public schools must meet certain standards and benchmarks in order to receive federal funds, and must show improvement in student achievement. By having such rigorous testing and accountability measures in place, NCLB is helping to close the achievement gap in Texas.
