What are the rules regarding campaign signs?

In New Mexico, the rules regarding campaign signs depend largely on the type of sign you are talking about. For outdoor signs, state law only requires that if a sign is posted on public property, it must not exceed six square feet in size. Signs posted on public property must also be taken down after the election. If an outdoor campaign sign is posted on private property, it does not need to follow any of the size requirements. However, it must have permission from the property owner to be posted and must be removed within 10 days after the election. Indoor campaign signs do not have many regulations besides basic public health safety regulations. They must also follow campaign finance rules if money is being exchanged for any type of placement of the sign. Overall, campaign signs must follow several rules in order to be legally posted in New Mexico. The size of outdoor signs, the permission needed to post on private property, the amount of time the sign must stay up after the election, and campaign finance rules are all important to adhere to.
