What are the rules for absentee voting?

In Washington, absentee voting allows those who are unable to be physically present at the polls to cast their votes. Absentee voting is available for anyone who meets one of the following conditions: 1. You are outside of your county on election day 2. You are unable to appear at the polls because of health concerns 3. You have a religious conflict 4. You are a member of the military or are an overseas voter In order to participate in absentee voting, you must request an absentee ballot from your county auditor. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is the Friday prior to the election. After you receive your ballot, you must complete it and return it to the county auditor by 8 p.m. on election day. When you return your ballot, it must be signed and witnessed by two individuals. The witnesses must sign an affidavit that verifies the identity of the voter and the accuracy of the ballot. Once the absentee ballot is received by the county auditor, it is secured until the election is completed. The ballots will then be counted according to Washington election law and the outcome of the election determined.
