Are there any laws related to equestrian safety?

In Washington, there are a few laws related to equine safety. The state law requires that all riders under the age of 18 must wear a properly fitted and approved helmet when mounted on any horse or pony, and accompany any riders under the age of 8. Additionally, the law states that any persons under the age of 18 cannot ride alone, unsupervised. Additionally, the law prohibits riding on public roads or highways except in certain instances, which must be approved by the local government. Also, Washington requires that all equestrian facilities follow certain safety standards in order to protect the safety of the riders and the horses. This includes having a minimum of two enclosures for paddocks, as well as a minimum of one enclosure for each horse that is being kept. Furthermore, the law also requires that all fences must be at least four feet high, and built in such a way that horses and ponies cannot escape or become entangled in the fencing. Additionally, the law also states that all equestrian facilities must have at least one designated area for the loading and unloading of horses, as well as a designated area for the storage of tack. Lastly, Washington requires that all horses and ponies must be inspected by a licensed veterinarian at least once a year in order to ensure that they are healthy and free of any illness or injury. All horses must also be up-to-date on their vaccinations and deworming treatments, as well as have a valid license or registration papers. These laws are in place in order to ensure the safety of both the riders and the horses.
