How often is a guardianship review required?

In Texas, guardianship reviews are conducted on an annual basis. This means that once a guardianship is established, it must be reviewed once every twelve months to ensure that the guardianship is still in the best interest of the person being overseen. The Texas Probate Code requires a guardian to provide a written report to the court at least 30 days before the annual review date. The report must include personal information about the ward, such as the ward’s current physical and mental condition, a description of his or her current living arrangements, and an assessment of the ward’s well-being. The report must also provide an update on any action the guardian has taken on behalf of the ward.
