What is the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women?
The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, or CEDAW, is an international agreement that commits state parties to combat gender-based discrimination in all of its forms. Originally signed in 1979, the convention has been ratified by almost all countries in the world, including the United States and California. CEDAW is the only international instrument that comprehensively covers the rights of women and girls.
