The International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families is a United Nations treaty that was established in 1990. This treaty is intended to protect the rights and freedoms of migrant workers and their families, regardless of their legal status in their host country. It also protects those migrant workers who are employed in developed countries. This treaty covers a variety of rights and protections, including the right to an adequate standard of living, the right to freedom from discrimination, the right to medical care and social security, the right to return to their host country, the right to protection from exploitation, the right to freedom of movement and the right to education.
