What is an opportunity to repair a claim?

An opportunity to repair a claim is when a person or business makes an insurance claim that is challenged by an insurance company. When this happens, the two parties can come together to negotiate a solution or repair to the claim. In Arizona, this opportunity to repair a claim is provided by Arizona’s insurance code. This code gives a claimant two options when their insurance claim is denied. The claimant can either agree to the insurance company’s decision and accept the denial of their claim or they can dispute the denial. When a dispute occurs, a claimant can file a complaint with the Arizona Department of Insurance. This allows the Department to review the insurance company’s decision and offer the opportunity to repair the claim by reaching an agreement between the two parties. The insurer and the claimant will have the opportunity to discuss their dispute and review the information that led to the denial. The Department of Insurance may also recommend a settlement agreement, if the two parties can not come to an agreement. This settlement agreement would resolve the dispute and the claim can then be repaired. The Department of Insurance can also order an insurance company to pay the claim, or order a new review of the claim in some cases. In summary, an opportunity to repair a claim is when a person or business has their insurance claim denied and has the right to dispute the decision and negotiate with the insurer to repair the claim. This is provided in Arizona’s insurance code and provides claimants the opportunity to dispute the decision and either come to a settlement agreement or receive a new review of their claim.
