What is the role of FINRA in investor protection?

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) plays an important role in the protection of investors in the state of New York. FINRA is a self-regulatory organization (SRO) that oversees the conduct of broker-dealers that operate in the securities markets. As an SRO, FINRA works together with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to protect investors from investment fraud. FINRA’s main role is to regulate and monitor broker-dealers and provide the public with a secure environment in which to conduct their financial transactions. FINRA monitors broker-dealers’ activities through a system of rules and regulations, which are designed to protect investors from fraud and other illegal activities. These rules and regulations are designed to ensure that broker-dealers are providing appropriate information to investors and not making false or misleading statements. FINRA also provides investor education resources, such as webinars, educational publications, and conferences, to help educate investors about their investments and to protect them from fraud. FINRA also develops and enforces regulations to prevent fraudulent activities, such as insider trading and market manipulation. In addition to overseeing the activities of broker-dealers, FINRA provides a number of services to protect investors. These services include an online investigation system to help investors report potential fraud or misconduct, a dispute resolution process to resolve investor-broker disputes, and a system to provide investors with free credit reports. FINRA also has a Whistle Blower Program, which provides financial incentives to individuals who come forward and provide information that leads to the successful enforcement of securities laws.
