What is the L-1A visa and who is eligible for it?
The L-1A visa is a type of visa specifically designed for international businesses. It is meant to allow employees who are sent from one of a company’s international branches to its United States branch to be able to stay and work in the U.S. legally. This visa is most commonly used for the transfer of managers, executives, and specialized knowledge personnel. In order to be eligible for an L-1A visa, an individual must have been employed outside of the United States for at least one year during the last three years by a company that has an existing relationship with a United States business. The individual must also be traveling to the U.S. in order to work for the same company as an executive or manager, or to provide specialized knowledge to the U.S. organization. The individual must also have the intention to return to the foreign company once their visa expires and must have the intent to stay in the United States for a limited period of time. The individual must also be a professional, meaning that he or she has obtained a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, or possesses some years of experience in the industry. Lastly, the individual must be entering the U.S. to be employed in an executive or managerial role with the current or a related company. The L-1A visa is an incredibly useful resource for international businesses when it comes to transferring high-level positions to the United States branch of their business. It allows foreign companies to increase their presence in the United States and allows executives and managers to stay in the United States for a certain amount of time. This visa is a valuable tool and resource for individuals and businesses alike.
