What is a Notice of Action (NOA)?
A Notice of Action (NOA) is an official document issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in response to certain immigration applications or petitions, or after immigration enforcement actions have been taken. It is also known as Form I-797. In North Dakota, a Notice of Action might be issued in regards to deportation proceedings. When an individual has been issued a Notice of Action, they have been notified that their request has been approved, denied, or forwarded to another agency or office for further processing. The NOA will also provide details about the case, such as a hearing date and location, or instructions for further filings. The NOA will usually include a - receipt number that can be used to track the status of the application or petition. If the application or petition is denied, the NOA will explain the reason and provide instructions for filing an appeal. In the case of deportation proceedings, the individual might receive an NOA that provides information on the removal hearing, such as the location and time of the hearing.
