What is an O visa?
An O visa is a type of temporary work visa issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). O visas are for individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, as well as for people who have a demonstrated record of extraordinary achievement in the motion picture or television industry. O visas are for foreign nationals who come to New Mexico for a specific purpose and for a limited amount of time. This type of visa is granted to those who demonstrate an extraordinary ability in their field of work. Individuals seeking O visas must provide substantial proof of their expertise and must demonstrate that they bring a unique set of skills or knowledge to their profession. This includes evidence of an outstanding record of achievements in their field of work, such as awards, prizes, certifications, and memberhips in professional organizations, as well as letters of recommendation from experts in the field. In addition, O visa applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are coming to the United States to continue work in their field of expertise, and that they have all the necessary qualifications for the position. This includes a valid passport, employment offer letter, and other evidence of the necessary qualifications. O visas are temporary and usually valid for a period of up to three years, although some O visas may be extended up to ten years. The visa can be renewed after its expiration, but the process is more complex and time-consuming. In order for an O visa holder to remain and work in the United States permanently, they must obtain an employment-based green card.
