What is the Refugee Resettlement Program?

The Refugee Resettlement Program is a United States federal government program designed to provide support and services to refugees who have been accepted to the United States from other countries. This program is part of the Immigration and Nationality Act, and is administered by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) which is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Refugee Resettlement Program does not only apply to refugees, but can also provide assistance to family members of refugees, who are admitted and permanently resettled in California. The program is meant to provide financial assistance and access to social services along with providing economic help. These social services can help with housing, employment, health care, education, family reunification, and learning the English language. The Refugee Resettlement Program helps refugees from all over the world get the assistance they need to build a new life in California. The ORR strives to provide resources and support to help refugees become self-sufficient as soon as possible and to help them integrate into the community. The ORR works with federal, state, and local governments, as well as with nonprofit and faith-based organizations in California to ensure that refugees receive the best services available.
