What is the purpose of a motion for reconsideration in an international court?
A motion for reconsideration in an international court is a formal request by litigants for legal review of a court’s decision on a case. In New Hampshire, international litigation law provides the same rules and legal procedures for motions for reconsideration as it does in other legal venues. Motions for reconsideration are usually used when a litigant believes that a judgment does not address all of the arguments made in the original case. They may also be used when a party believes that the court misinterpreted or failed to consider the evidence or legal argument presented to them. In filing a motion for reconsideration, the litigant must present evidence to support their claim that the previous decision was made in error. The international court will then review the motion and all relevant evidence and make a decision on whether or not to reconsider the case. Generally, motions for reconsideration are not granted unless the court determines that a clear legal error was made in the original decision. The purpose of a motion for reconsideration is to ensure that all relevant issues have been considered and that all legal matters have been addressed. It also serves as a method of ensuring that judgments in international courts are fair and just.
