How do I report any changes in my marital status?
If you have recently gone through any changes in your marital status, you must report these changes to the Washington State Immigration Law. In order to do so, you need to fill out an application for an amended immigration status. This application is available online and should be submitted to the Washington State Immigration Law office. In your application, you need to provide relevant information such as your name and address, your spouse’s name and address, when and where the marriage occurred, and other relevant documents. Depending on the type of change that has occurred in your marital status, copies of your marriage license or divorce decree may be needed. Once you have submitted the application, it can take up to 90 days to process the amended status and you may be asked to provide additional documents requested by the Washington State Immigration Law office. Once your application is approved, the office will issue you a Certificate of Amended Status, which will serve as proof of your change in status. It is important to keep in mind that any changes in your marital status must be reported promptly. If your change in marital status is not reported, you may be subject to various penalties such as fines and/or deportation. Therefore, it is best to contact the Washington State Immigration Law office promptly upon any changes in your marital status.
