How do I apply for a fiancé(e) visa?
To apply for a fiancé(e) visa, also known as a K-1 visa, from the state of Pennsylvania you must first submit Form I-129F to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). Form I-129F is a petition for a nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa. This form must be submitted by the U.S citizen who is sponsoring their fiancé(e). When submitting Form I-129F, the U.S. citizen must provide evidence of their U.S. citizenship, as well as evidence of a valid relationship with their fiancé(e). This evidence could include, but is not limited to, copies of emails and other correspondence between the two, telephone records, pictures, and/or affidavits from other family members or friends. Once the petition is approved, the USCIS will issue an approval notice and a packet of instructions for the next step. The fiancé(e) must then go to their local U.S. consulate or embassy to complete the application. The application for the K-1 visa will require information about the fiancé(e), their family, employment history, and travel plans, as well as photographs of both parties. The application will also need to be accompanied by medical and police certificates. Once the application is approved, the fiancé(e) will receive a K-1 visa. This visa will allow the fiancé(e) to enter the U.S. for a period of 90 days and they must get married within this 90 day period. Once married, the fiancé(e) can then apply for permanent resident status. It is important to note that the process for a K-1 visa can be complicated and take some time, so it is important to start the process as early as possible to ensure everything is prepared in a timely manner.
