What documents are required for a US visa application?

In order to apply for a US visa, applicants must provide certain documents to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in California. These documents include a filled out visa application form (Form DS-160), a current passport, a passport-style photograph, and proof of payment of the visa application fee. In addition, applicants may be required to submit other documents based on their individual circumstances. For instance, if the applicant wishes to apply for a tourist visa, they must provide proof of sufficient funds to cover their expenses during the trip and evidence of their ties to the country they are applying to visit. Evidence of employment and/or family ties may also be necessary. For those applying for a business visa, they must provide supporting documents such as an invitation letter from the company they are visiting, a letter of employment from the company they work for, or proof of admission to a university in the US. Applicants seeking a visa for medical treatment must provide evidence of medical necessity and proof of financial ability to pay for the treatment. Finally, all applicants must provide a valid form of identification, such as their driver’s license, to establish their identity. Depending on the type of visa that the applicant is seeking, additional documentation may be requested by the USCIS.
