What is the process for permanent residence through the Registry?

In Florida, the process for permanent residence through the Registry is quite lengthy. It begins with submitting an application to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This application must include proof of continuous physical residence in the U.S. for at least the past five years, documentation of good moral character, and proof of identity. The application must also include an Affidavit of Support from the petitioner, agreeing to financially support the applicant. The application is then reviewed by USCIS, and if approved, the applicant will be invited to attend an immigration interview. At this interview, a USCIS officer will ask questions about the application, and the applicant must provide proof that all the information they provided is accurate. The USCIS officer will also ask questions regarding the applicant’s knowledge of U.S. history and civics. After the interview, the officer will either approve or deny the application. If the application is approved, the next step is for the applicant to take the Oath of Allegiance. Once the Oath of Allegiance is taken, the applicant is granted permanent residence status. To officially complete the process, the applicant will also need to apply for a green card. After this, the applicant will officially become a permanent resident of Florida.
