What is a conditional green card?
A conditional green card is a type of green card that allows an individual to live and work in the United States for a limited time, usually two years. This type of green card is typically issued to foreign nationals who have entered the United States through a specific immigration process. It is important to remember that holders of a conditional green card are still subject to all of the immigration laws and regulations that apply to other green card holders. In order to obtain a conditional green card in Washington, you must be eligible to receive the card under a specified law and you must have a valid passport. Once the individual has been approved to receive a conditional green card, they must submit an application and pay all applicable fees. The application must include proof of identity and eligibility to apply, copies of financial records, and social security numbers of all household members. The conditional green card must then be renewed every two years. When renewing, applicants must provide proof of eligibility and continue to meet all of the requirements for maintaining their green card status. After two years, the individual must apply to remove the conditions of their green card and become a permanent resident. If the applicant does not meet the requirements for a conditional green card or does not renew their green card before the expiration date, they will be subject to deportation. It is important to be aware of all of the requirements and regulations for maintaining a conditional green card in order to avoid deportation.
