How long does it take to receive an Investor or Entrepreneur visa?
It depends on the type of visa you are seeking. Investor visas, or E-2 visas, are typically issued for up to five years and are renewable. This type of visa is intended to allow foreign investors to put money into a business in the U.S. and develop it. Entrepreneur visas, or EB-5 visas, typically take longer to receive than an E-2 visa, often up to two years. An EB-5 visa is reserved for foreign entrepreneurs who are ready to invest at least $500,000 or $1 million into a U.S.-based business and then create at least 10 jobs. The investor or entrepreneur must also demonstrate that the investment will be of benefit to the local economy and that the business will be managed without the need for public funds. Furthermore, the investor must provide evidence of the legal source of funds. Once these requirements are met, the visa can then be processed, which typically takes a minimum of two years.
