How can I apply for asylum?

Applying for asylum in the state of Florida can be a complicated process. Generally, you must be physically present in the United States to apply for asylum and be able to demonstrate that you have a “well-founded fear of persecution” in your home country. In order to apply, you must first prepare and submit an application to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Included in this application is a detailed description of the persecution that you have, or expect to experience, along with evidence to back up your claim. Both the application and the evidence must be strongly convincing. You will need to provide evidence such as personal statements, medical records, police reports, news articles, or affidavits from witnesses to support your claims. Additionally, you must also submit a photograph of yourself and your fingerprints. After submitting your application, you will need to attend an interview at the local asylum office in Florida. During this interview, you will be asked to explain the details of the persecution that you are facing or have faced in the past. You may also be asked to explain why you came to the United States. If your application is approved, you will become eligible for asylum and will be able to lawfully remain in the United States. Finally, if your application for asylum is not approved, you may still have other options available to you in Florida such as applying for Temporary Protected Status or for a different type of legal immigration status.
