Is there a time limit on how long I can stay in the U.S. with a student visa?

Yes, there is a time limit on how long you can stay in the U.S. with a student visa. According to U.S. immigration law, student visa holders in Kansas generally must remain enrolled and in attendance at the school designated on the visa for the entire period of their approved stay. Additionally, student visa holders must maintain a full course of study, unless certain conditions are met. The Student and Exchange Visitor Program issued by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement requires that students maintain their enrollment in a full-time course of study for the entire duration of their stay in the U.S. The maximum amount of time allowed on a student visa in Kansas is determined by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Generally, a student visa is valid for the length of the program of study, up to four years. However, students with a student visa are able to extend their stay in the U.S. if they can provide sufficient evidence that they are still registered in a full-time course of study and can prove that they intend to finish their program of study. Additionally, they must be in good academic standing and in compliance with all of the US government immigration laws. If a student is granted an extension, it will generally be for the same length of time as the original visa, up to a maximum of four years.
