What is the OPT program for student visas?
The OPT Program, or Optional Practical Training, is for students with F-1 visas in Kansas. The program allows international students to remain in the United States after graduation for up to 12 months to gain practical training in their field. To be eligible for the program, students must have completed at least one academic year of full-time study at an approved school in the U.S. They must also be in a degree or certificate program, and plan to work in a field related to their studies. The OPT program is divided into two parts: pre-completion and post-completion. During pre-completion OPT, students are allowed to work part time (up to 20 hours per week) while still studying. After completing their program of study, students may apply for post-completion OPT. During this time, students are allowed to work full-time for up to 12 months. The OPT program is a great way for international students to get practical experience in their field. However, it is important to note that the program requires students to obtain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) and adhere to certain regulations, including a strict timeline for filing paperwork and maintaining their visas.
