What is an H-1B1 visa?
An H-1B1 visa is a type of visa that is offered to individuals from certain countries who possess certain qualifications. It is a nonimmigrant visa issued by the United States government. This type of visa is available to citizens of Chile and Singapore who are either professionals in a specialty occupation or are entering the United States to receive higher education. To qualify for an H-1B1 visa, the foreign national must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in a specific field, and must be entering the country to take a job in a specialty occupation. The U.S. employer must first prove that they cannot find a qualified individual in the United States to fill the job before they can hire someone from another country. H-1B1 visas are often sought after by students from Chile and Singapore who want to attend college in California or study a subject or profession that is not widely available in their own countries. In addition, business professionals from qualifying countries can use this visa to enter the U.S. to work on a temporary basis. The H-1B1 visa is valid for up to three years, and can be extended up to six total years. Individuals with an H-1B1 visa are also allowed to travel outside of the United States while maintaining their visa status.
