What is a diversity visa?
A diversity visa is an immigration program that provides a limited number of visas to individuals from countries with low immigration rates to the United States. The program was created by the Immigration Act of 1990 and is administered by the Department of State. In North Dakota, individuals who wish to apply for a diversity visa must meet all eligibility criteria, which include being a national of a qualifying country, meeting education and/or work experience requirements, and filing a diversity visa application with the Department of State. To be eligible for a diversity visa, students must be at least 16 years old and have either completed high school or have two years of work experience in a field that requires at least two years of training or experience. Individuals who are selected to receive a diversity visa will become permanent residents in the United States, with the ability to live, work, and travel in the country. Diversity visa recipients must also meet all the legal requirements to maintain their status as legal permanent residents and be physically present in the United States in order to complete the process. Diversity visas, like any other immigration program, provide individuals from countries with low immigration rates a chance to live and work in the United States. Through the diversity visa program, individuals can gain access to the many opportunities available in North Dakota and the United States, providing students with the opportunity to build a bright future.
