What is the length of a student visa?
Student visas are generally issued for a specified length of time. In New Mexico, most student visas are initially issued for a period of two years. Students who wish to continue their studies beyond the initial two-year period and/or beyond OPT may apply for an extension of their student visa for up to five years. Extension applications can be made up to six months before the expiration of the current visa.
