The Naturalization interview typically lasts about 20 minutes, and the applicant may bring an interpreter if they need one. During the interview, the applicant will be asked a variety of questions about their background, including their name, date of birth, the country of origin and their current address. The applicant will also be asked a number of questions about the oath of allegiance to the United States, and the applicant must answer “yes” to all of these questions or their application will be denied. In addition, the applicant must provide evidence that they have been residing in the United States for a continuous period of at least five years prior to the interview.
