What is a non-immigrant visa?
A non-immigrant visa is a temporary visa issued by the United States to people who are entering the country temporarily. These visas are typically used by students, workers, tourists, and other individuals who are entering the United States for a limited period of time. In Texas, individuals who need to obtain a non-immigrant visa must first contact the embassy or consulate of the United States in order to get the appropriate application forms. Once the application form is completed and submitted, the individual will be required to attend an interview with an immigration officer from the United States. During the interview, the individual will be asked questions about their purpose for coming to the United States, as well as providing evidence of their ties back to their country of origin. Depending on the type of non-immigrant visa the individual is applying for, they may also need to provide evidence of having sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay in the United States. Once the individual has successfully completed the application and interview process, the visa will be issued. It is important to note that non-immigrant visas are typically only valid for a certain period of time and must be renewed periodically. Furthermore, individuals who hold non-immigrant visas do not have the same rights and privileges as U.S. citizens, and failure to abide by the terms of the visa can result in serious consequences.
