What is international economic law?

International economic law is an area of law that covers the regulation of international trade and investment. It is a branch of international law, and it seeks to facilitate international economic activities. This includes the regulation of international businesses, the settlement of disputes between countries, the regulation of the environment, and the control of financial markets and services. In Colorado, international economic law is a growing field, especially because of the state’s booming business sector. Many businesses in the state are involved in international trade, and require legal guidance with regards to international economic activities. International economic law also helps ensure that businesses have access to fair trade practices and that they are afforded equal protection under the law. International economic law also provides a framework for resolving international disputes. For example, if a dispute arises between a Colorado business and a business from another country, a court of international law can be convened to resolve the dispute. This provides a secure and impartial means of settling international disputes. Finally, international economic law helps protect the environment. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is an example of a treaty which seeks to protect the environment and promote responsible economic development. Colorado businesses must adhere to the requirements of this treaty, as well as other international environmental standards. International economic law gives Colorado businesses the freedom to engage in international trade and investment, while still protecting both the environment and their business interests.
