What is the Veterans' Employment and Training Services (VETS)?
The Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) is a program in Florida mandated by the federal government to help veterans find employment. It provides assistance to veterans, transitioning service members, and eligible spouses seeking meaningful careers. Its mission is to provide resources to help them secure and maintain meaningful employment, and provides guidance and assistance in their pursuit of career opportunities and empowering them to advance in their chosen field. VETS provides workforce services for veterans, service members, and their families. These services range from career counseling and job-search assistance to employer outreach and education. VETS also helps veterans navigate state and federal laws and regulations that may affect their jobs and workforce-related services. VETS helps employers understand and appreciate the skills and value that veterans bring to the workplace. VETS works with employers to make sure veterans are given a fair chance at landing a job. The program also educates employers about the importance of hiring veterans and the benefits of employing them. VETS also provides veterans with extensive apprenticeship and training programs. This gives veterans the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills needed for a new job or to enhance their current career path. VETS also helps veterans transition to civilian life by providing them with information, resources, and other services such as resume writing and interview preparation.
