What is the duty of fair representation?
The duty of fair representation is a legal responsibility that labor unions have to represent the members of their union fairly when they are involved in labor relations. In the state of Minnesota, labor unions have a duty to represent their members in good faith when they are negotiating collective bargaining agreements, administering contracts, handling grievances, and taking other labor-related actions.
