Who is eligible for a medical marijuana card in my state?

In California, any person above the age of 18 who is a California resident can be eligible for a medical marijuana card. If you are under 18, you may still be eligible but will need to have a parent or guardian act as your caregiver and agree to be responsible for the medical and non-medical decisions regarding your marijuana use. To be eligible for a medical marijuana card in California, you must have at least one “qualifying” medical condition, as defined by the state of California. These qualifying conditions include, but are not limited to, certain types of cancer, HIV/AIDS, glaucoma, anorexia, chronic pain, nausea from chemotherapy, seizures, and muscle spasms. In addition to having a qualifying condition, you must also obtain a written recommendation from a licensed physician, who is certified and registered with California’s Medical Marijuana Program. The physician must indicate the severity of your illness and confirm that the patient’s medical condition can be improved or treated with the use of medical marijuana. Finally, you will need to register with the California Department of Health Services and receive a Medical Marijuana Identification Card (MMIC). The MMIC will allow access to legal dispensaries and delivery services. In order to be eligible for a medical marijuana card in California, you must be 18 years of age or older and have a qualifying medical condition. A written recommendation from a certified physician is also required, as well as registration with the California Department of Health Services and a valid MMIC.
