Who is eligible for a medical marijuana card in my state?

In New York, an individual must be certified to purchase and use medical marijuana. People aged 18 or older are eligible for a medical marijuana card if they have been diagnosed with certain medical conditions as defined by the New York State Department of Health. These conditions include cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis, and any condition for which a physician has determined medical marijuana may provide relief. In addition, the individual must have a health care practitioner certify, in writing, that they are suffering from a qualifying medical condition and that the use of medical marijuana is necessary. To obtain a medical marijuana card, the individual must also provide proof of identity and address. Caregivers may also be certified to purchase medical marijuana for a patient if they are over the age of 21, have submitted a caregiver application, and are approved by the New York State Department of Health.
