What is the purpose of the Code of Conduct?
The Code of Conduct is a set of rules and regulations established by the military to govern the behavior of military personnel. It is designed to ensure servicemembers act in a responsible and disciplined manner and uphold the values of the military. The Code of Conduct applies to all branches of the military regardless of branch, and is enforced by courts-martial and other disciplinary action. The Code of Conduct is a set of core values that all military personnel must adhere to. It includes seven articles which define aspects of the servicemembers’ duty to god, the law, and the regulations of the armed forces. These articles state that servicemembers must abide by the laws of war, respect the rights of all persons, and demonstrate loyalty to the United States. The Code of Conduct serves an important purpose in requiring servicemembers to maintain a high standard of behavior in their service. It provides guidance on how to act and think in all situations and ensures that the military remains strong and unified. This code also protects servicemembers from the risk of facing disciplinary action for failing to adhere to the regulations of the military. In Minnesota, the Code of Conduct ensures that all military personnel uphold the responsible and ethical standards set forth by the armed forces.
