How often must I meet with my parole officer?

In Alaska, if you are on parole or probation, you must meet with your parole officer regularly. How often you meet with them depends on the terms of your sentence, as set out by the court or government agency overseeing your parole or probation. Generally, parolees must meet with an officer at least once a month. At each meeting, you will be required to report any job changes, address changes, contact with law enforcement, and any other information the parole officer may need to know. Depending on the terms of your parole or probation, you may also need to submit to drug or alcohol testing, or undergo a search of your person or property. If you have met all of the conditions of your parole or probation, your officer may allow you to meet less frequently, usually every two to four weeks. However, you must still be able to contact your officer immediately if there are any changes in your circumstances. In some cases, you may also be required to attend group meetings with other parolees. It is important to understand that parole officers have the power to put you back in prison if you violate the conditions of your parole or probation. For this reason, it is vital that you attend all scheduled meetings with your parole officer, and comply with any requests they may make of you.
