What types of programs are offered to help me find employment while on parole or probation?
In the state of Florida, there are a variety of programs available to help individuals on parole or probation find employment. One such program is the Vocational Evaluation and Training (VET) Program, which helps offenders identify their skills and interests and build occupational training goals. Offenders can use the VET program to work towards a degree or certification in an occupation, and gain the skills to eventually find a job. This program focuses on education and/or treatment to help offenders maintain sobriety and make better life choices. A third program is the Community Service Program. This program helps individuals meet their sentencing obligations by providing them with meaningful volunteer opportunities in a variety of fields, including environmental protection, animal care, and public service. Finally, the Florida Department of Corrections offers the Employment Resource Center (ERC) program. This program helps former offenders gain the resources and assistance necessary to find work in a variety of fields. The ERC provides career counseling, allows for job opportunities inside and outside of correctional facilities, and offers referrals to job placement services. By utilizing these resources, former offenders can find gainful employment and make positive changes in their lives.
