What is professional liability law?
Professional Liability Law is a type of law in Tennessee that holds professionals responsible for errors, negligence, or other violations of professional duties. Professional Liability Law requires professionals to perform their duties with a certain degree of care, skill, and diligence. To be considered a professional, the person must have a license, certification, or other professional qualification. Professional Liability Law applies to professions such as lawyers, doctors, dentists, and other medical professionals, engineers, architects, accountants, and other financial professionals. It also applies to trades such as electricians, plumbing contractors, plumbers, and HVAC technicians. When a professional fails to meet their duty and an individual is harmed by their negligence, the victim can pursue legal action. This is done by filing a lawsuit against the negligent professional. The lawsuit will require the professional to pay for the damages caused by their mistakes. This includes payment for medical bills and other costs, as well as money awarded for pain and suffering. Professional Liability Law is important to ensure that professionals are accountable for their mistakes and that their actions do not go unpunished. It also helps to ensure that individuals receive the justice and compensation they deserve.
