What is a patent information center?

A patent information center is a specialized library resource that provides patent data and resources to help inventors, lawyers, and companies protect their intellectual property rights. In South Carolina, the Clemson University Patent Information Center (PIC) is the only one of its kind in the state. The PIC maintains a library of publications and databases related to patent law. It also offers educational programs to teach students and entrepreneurs about the patent process. The PIC provides access to services and resources such as patent searching, patent application preparation, and patent validity/invalidity opinions. Additionally, the PIC assists inventors in finding and securing patent protection from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The PIC also provides publications and news related to patent law and offers seminars and workshops to help inventors understand the patent process and protect their rights. By providing these resources, the PIC plays an important role in helping innovators protect their intellectual property.
