What are the requirements for becoming a real estate broker?

In South Carolina, in order to become a real estate broker, you must meet certain qualifications. First, you must be at least eighteen years old. In addition, you must be a high school graduate, have at least a college degree, or have an equivalent combination of four years of experience in real estate or related fields. Second, you must complete sixty hours of real estate pre-licensing courses. These courses have to be approved by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission and must include topics such as real estate law, contracts, appraisals, and financing. Third, you must pass the real estate license exam. The exam consists of two parts. The first part covers national and state real estate law and the second part covers practical real estate principles. Fourth, you must submit an application form to the South Carolina Real Estate Commission. This form must include your background information, experience, and any other pertinent details. Finally, you must receive a real estate broker license from the South Carolina Real Estate Commission. This license must be renewed every two years and requires the completion of a certain number of continuing education credits. Once these requirements are met, you will be legally qualified to be a real estate broker in South Carolina.
