What is the procedure for submitting evidence to the court in a small claims case?

In Michigan, the procedure for submitting evidence to the court in a small claims case is for the plaintiff to provide the defendant with a disclosure statement containing the evidence they intend to use in their case. The defendant then has 14 days to respond to the disclosure statement, either by providing their own evidence or by admitting or denying the evidence submitted. Once the disclosure statements are submitted to the court, both parties are allowed to submit additional evidence for their case. This evidence should be in the form of documents such as photographs, contracts or other relevant paperwork. Both parties should also bring witnesses, if applicable. All evidence must be provided to the court before the trial begins. During the trial, each party is allowed to present their evidence and to explain why they believe the evidence supports their case. After both parties have presented their evidence, the judge will determine if the evidence is sufficient to make a decision. The court will issue its decision based on the evidence it has seen and the arguments of both parties. Once the decision is issued, both parties will be bound to follow it unless an appeal is made.
