What is a trust distribution?
A trust distribution is the act of distributing assets from a trust to the trust beneficiaries. This can also be referred to as a trust disbursement. A trust beneficiary is a person who is the recipient of assets distributed from a trust. In the state of Illinois, a trust is established when the trustor, the person who creates the trust, transfers property (like money, stocks, or real estate) into the trust. The trustor will also choose a trustee, who will be responsible for managing the trust. The trustor will also appoint a beneficiary or beneficiaries who will receive the trust assets once the trust is distributed. At the time of the trust distribution, the trust beneficiary will receive whatever assets the trustor had placed in the trust. This could be money, stocks, or other forms of property. Depending on the state laws, the trustee may be able to use the assets for the benefit of the beneficiaries before the actual distribution takes place. When the trust distribution takes place, the trustee will be responsible for distributing the assets. Depending on the instructions of the trustor, the trustee may be able to use their discretion in deciding how to distribute the trust assets. The trustee will also need to make sure that the assets are distributed in accordance with the trust document and the trustor’s wishes. Once the trust distribution is complete, the trust is considered to be terminated. This means that all of the trust assets have been distributed and that the trustor no longer has any claims on the assets. The trust will no longer exist and the trustor’s wishes have been fulfilled.
