What is a “fix-it ticket”?
A “fix-it ticket” is a type of traffic ticket that can be issued in the state of Kansas. These tickets are given to drivers who commit minor infractions, such as having a headlight out or a broken windshield wiper. The benefit of a fix-it ticket is that the driver can avoid paying a fine or having points added to their license if they are able to fix the violation within a certain amount of time. In order to have the ticket dismissed, the driver must obtain proof that the infraction has been fixed. This can typically be done by taking the vehicle to a qualified mechanic and having them fill out an affidavit that states the violation has been repaired. The driver must then take the affidavit to the court within the allotted time frame. When a driver receives a fix-it ticket, they should take it seriously and make sure the infraction is taken care of right away. If the infraction is not fixed on time or the driver fails to provide proof to the court, they will have to pay a fine and the violation will be added to their driving record. This could lead to additional fines and penalties, as well as an increase in their insurance premiums.
