Is it possible to get points removed from my license for a traffic ticket?

In Arizona, it is possible to get points removed from your license for a traffic ticket. The Arizona Supreme Court has established a "Point Reduction Program" which allows drivers who have received traffic citations to reduce the number of points on their driving record. To be eligible, you must have a clean driving record for at least one year prior to the ticket and have completed an approved defensive driving course. Upon successful completion of the defensive driving course and proof of a clean driving record, the Arizona Supreme Court will remove three points from your driving record. Additionally, some traffic violations may be reduced to a non-moving violation, which does not incur points on your license. Eligibility for a reduced charge is determined by the discretion of the court. If you have a clean driving record and the charges, deemed eligible for reduction, the judge may reduce the charge on your citation. This would prevent points being assessed to your driving record. You should note however that certain traffic violations such as driving under the influence, reckless driving or excessive speed cannot be reduced. If you are found guilty of any of these offenses, points will be assessed to your driving record. Additionally, if you have more than 15 points on your driving record, the state of Arizona may suspend your license. It is important to understand the traffic laws in your state so that you can abide by them. You can also take a defensive driving course to reduce the number of points on your license.
