How long do I have to pay a traffic ticket after it is issued?

In Nebraska, a traffic ticket must be paid within 30 calendar days from the date it is issued. If you fail to pay the ticket within the allotted time then you may be subject to late fees, an additional driver’s license suspension or other penalties. If you are unable to pay the ticket in full by the due date, you should contact the county court and ask to set up a payment plan. However, the court has the right to deny this request. It is important to note that paying a traffic ticket does not mean you are pleading guilty. You can go to court to dispute the ticket if you wish to do so. If you contest the ticket in court, then the due date for payment does not apply. However, if the court rules against you and you are found guilty of the violation, then you will have to pay the ticket along with any other associated penalties. In some cases, you may be able to get the ticket dismissed or even get the penalties reduced. You should contact an attorney to discuss your options if you want to dispute the ticket. No matter what happens, it is important to pay your traffic ticket on time. Otherwise, you may face serious legal consequences.
