Are there any special benefits available to veterans of other conflicts?
Yes, veterans of other conflicts may be eligible for special benefits in Florida. The Department of Veterans Affairs provides services specifically for veterans of other conflicts, such as World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Depending on the veteran’s circumstances, they may be eligible for benefits such as disability compensation, pension, health care, employment and education assistance, home loan guaranty, and more. To qualify for these benefits, veterans must have been discharged from active duty due to their service during a recognized conflict. Additionally, they must have received at least one day of active duty or served in a combat zone at least once. Additionally, military service must have occurred between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975 for Vietnam conflict eligibility. Veterans must submit an Application for VA Benefits (Form 22-1990 or Form 22-1990N) to receive veteran benefits in Florida. Once the form is completed, it is recommended that copies of the form be mailed to the nearest Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office. It is important to note that documents proving wartime service may be required when submitting the application. In order to ensure veterans receive the benefits they are entitled to, there are numerous organizations throughout Florida dedicated to providing support and assistance to veterans of other conflicts. Veterans may contact their local Veteran Service Office for more information about the benefits available in their area.
