What is the VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation program?

The VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) program is a program administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) designed to provide financial and other benefits to the surviving spouses, dependent children, and certain parents of veterans who died while on active duty in the U.S. military or as a result of a service-connected disability.
